Local Seafood Surprise.
After a long day trip to NH, my husband and I decided to stop in Kittery ME for a little outlet shopping. We had planned to wait for dinner till we got back near Boston but too much time spent buy goods for our already overstocked kitchen left us famished. Since we both associated the outlet shopping area with fast food, we were happy when we stumbled onto Robert's Maine Grill.
The restaurant is bright and charming and filled with large format photos of local scenes. The local theme continues with the menu that featured many locally grown and raised foods and notes their relationships with local farms.
The server was friendly and attentive to some diet and allergy issues we raised. They were happy to make some slight changes to the offerings to meet our needs and our whim.
I decided on a beer battered fried fish sandwich w sweet potato fries and onion rings. My husband had the seafood paella. Since we had just left a wine tasting at a vineyard and had a long drive home we ordered the blueberry lemonade which was made with local wild blueberries and was beautiful as well as refreshing.
The fish sandwich was huge and crispy and the fish was white and moist inside. The sweet potato fries and the onion rings were crunchy and delicious. While perhaps not the healthiest dinner, it was well worth some extra time at the gym. Little details matter to me and the tomato on the sandwich was farm fresh and the pickle crisp and sour.
My husband's dish was well prepared for him without the chorizo and the shrimp, fish, and mussels were fresh and excellent.
We would stop here again and would recommend it as a great spot for a hungry shopper to get real food for lunch or dinner.
