It can't be beat. Mike's Clam Shack is restaurant is top notch. The food is incredible, the waitstaff gregarious, the atmosphere fun and free spirited and the prices reasonable. Mike has been in the restaurant business his entire life and customer service and employee retention are only but two of his strong points. If there are complaints from customers about anything, Mike and his staff do everything conceivable to make it right. While he certainly can't please everyone, Mike's reputation and that of his employees is second to none in Wells. He has been in business for many years and people from all across the country come to dine and visit. Waiting lines are long for a reason, because people love this restaurant and it comes highly recommended by locals. Give it a try yourself. You won't be disappointed.

great baked haddock and shack potatoes great service our waitresses on both visits were very friendly bubbly keep up the good service. We recently spent a couple of days in wells .We were looking through the menus at the motel and asked about Mike's clam shack and it came highly recommended. We tried it , from the great greeting we received at the door to great service we got from our bubbly waitresses(we went back the second night) to the great baked haddock and shack potatoes the whole dining experience was very enjoyable (great gin and tonic too ) Thank you for a great dining experience.

Talked about a lot. Just the other day, my uncle, my parents, and I were talking seafood. My Uncle was saying he gets the seafood plate at Mike's then splits it with his wife. My parents said they get the same thing, and split the meal. One guess where I'm going today!!!! No splitting meals for me the wife will need to order her own.

Defending some comments..... I would just like to comment on souschef1122 's comments about his/her time at Mike's Clam Shack. As a current, and extremely happy employee, I would like to say that their comments are far from the truth. While our fish & chips is pollock, for a few dollars more, customers may have haddock & chips. Compared with other restaurants on Route 1, we are in the price range. This person mentioned speaking with ex-employees who had lies to share. Many times ex-employees from any job leave unhappy and will share lies with others. Nobody tampers with food and the owner surely does not have a 10-second rule. I do hope that others try us out for themselves. We have won numerous awards so we must be doing something right! BUT, if you are unhappy, please say something! We can't fix it unless you tell us! Only then can we fix your problem and make sure you enjoy your visit.

Thank you! Oh, and if you come visit us every morning around 9:00 AM, you will see our fresh seafood being delivered...every day!

Best Haddock meal I ever ate. I just started to go at Mike's summer of 2006.

I have to say Mike your fried haddock is the best in Maine.

Keep up the good work and wishing you a great 2007.

horrible. the place was nothing great,the waitstaff are grouchy and rude,the restaurant is over crowded,the food try to avoid.Fish is frozen,even the highly priced clams,the fish n chips is gross pollock,again,frozen,the place is over priced and I've talked with a couple ex-employees and they explained how certain waitstaff mess with customers food,and some cooks do as well when not supervised.Even the owner has a "10 second" rule

Foreigners visit Mikes. Well, not another country but I live in Colorado and my cousin in California and we found Mike's to love be at first bite. Though only in the area less than a week, we ate there several time and it is GREAT.

Every other place was graded and none met Mike's food.

RATING TOO LOW. Please build this rating up, even though its a tourist spot, the owners are more than friendly, the service always the best!!! Never had a dissapointing meal! Along with seafood is served superb homemade meals!! Give Mikes at least a 9 !! One of our favorites for us locals and our visitors to Maine!! We are so happy to have Mikes here!! Try the Lobster Stew, the very best around, guaranteed you've never had that much lobster in a bowl!!
