Best Italian Restaurant in Maine. The best italian restaurant in Maine. Food is always excellent. Service is good, not great. Atmosphere is fantastic, can be drafty if you sit by the door especially in the winter. Veal parm is fantastic (ask for it, it is not on the menu) and not always a special.

Try it you may like it. Atmosphere is very Italian-American. Host and wait staff were very cordial and polite. Items served were plentiful overpriced in my opionion but comparable. The "fresh" pasta could not have been fresh or had sat in a pot of hot water for way too long. Not one to complain, so would give it more than another try for dinner as it has a cozy atomosphere outside of Portland. One must like garlic though, I personally love garlic but considered the marinara a little to garlicy!

pathetic. i've eaten there 4 times and not really been at all impressed, after all they aren't italian,so its really italian style cooking not italian cooking....but the other night i got a pizza to go, you would think anyone could make a pizza, i'm 60 and never have i been sold a mess like was given to me....it was very busy that night and if the cook was sending a message that 1 pizza orders to go, it was message received...way too much sauce not fully cooked dough....a real mess

Hearty American-Italian Fare. Despite the other review on here, I checked out this straight-from-The-Godfather restaurant (I checked the toilet for Michael Corleone's gun...) and found it to be a VERY pleasant experience. I didn't go for the marinara as my Mom makes the best and why would I ever set myself up to be disappointed?...I've learned that lesson at other restaurants. But had the Chicken Marsala as suggested to me by my surprisingly professional waitress and have been craving it ever since. Not to mention a nice big glass of wine--something that always makes me happy. Will definitely be going back on a cold night when I need some comfort food and want to be pampered.

another subpar italian restaurant in maine. the sauce here is the worse you wil ever have, hands down, bar none. the cheapest of ingredients across the board and a big price. good coffee here, probably the best thing in the house. atmosphere is very inviting. no casa novello for me. anthony's in portland only italian joint i like in portland area.
